September First Friday is Going to the Dogs in Downtown Delaware

Main Street Delaware is celebrating the dog days of summer with a new pet walk during its Friday, September 7, First Friday event in downtown Delaware, Ohio.

Tickets are available now for this unique event that invites pet owners to bring their leashed animals downtown to visit participating merchants to collect pet treats and compete for prizes. Tickets are $10 per pet and are available online at mainstreetdelaware.com.

Main Street Delaware’s pet walk will be held from 6 to 9 p.m., stepping off from the organization’s new office at 20 E. Winter St. There, ticket holders will receive special “doggy bags” and maps of merchants offering pet treats to fill them. Tickets sales will be limited to 100.

All pets must have tickets to receive treats, but they are invited to bring as many humans as they wish to enjoy the walk. When they visit participating merchants, the pets will compete for additional prizes, such as “cutest pet,” determined by the merchants.

The First Friday celebration also will feature pet-related booths and information to help everyone care for their furry friends, as well as a free children’s craft project, music, and more family fun.

In October, the Delaware Fire Department will fill the downtown with fire-fighting equipment and share safety tips during the Friday, October 5, Main Street Delaware First Friday celebration.

In addition, the Main Street Delaware Farmers Market, sponsored by Franklin University, will continue from 3 to 6 p.m. Wednesdays and from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturdays through October on Sandusky Street.
