Low-cost cholesterol screenings are available at the Health District’s Adult Walk-In Clinics every weekday morning from 7:30 to 9 a.m. The screenings, which require fasting for 8-10 hours, measure total cholesterol, HDL, LDL, and triglycerides.

Clients seeking cholesterol checks are asked to phone the clinic at least a day ahead; the number is 740-203-2040. Total cholesterol checks also are available at all DGHD In Your Neighborhood visits.

High cholesterol doubles a person’s risk for heart disease, the No. 1 killer in America. Regular cholesterol screenings are recommended for adults. The Delaware General Health District offers testing services daily because prevention of chronic diseases, including heart disease, is a priority of the Delaware Board of Health.

You can help prevent or lower high cholesterol through a nutritious diet rich in fruits and vegetables, regular exercise, and not smoking.

For additional information about cholesterol checks and other DGHD clinic services, phone 740-203-2040 or log on to www.delawarehealth.org. Delaware County General Health District is located at 3 West Winter Street in historic downtown Delaware, Ohio.
