- Main Street Delaware’s First Friday will take place on February 3 in downtown Delaware, Ohio and celebrate the Chocolate Walk with lots of sugary confections.
Willy Wonka and his fudgy factory have nothing on downtown Delaware. On Feb 3, you’re invited to enjoy an entire chocolate city during Main Street Delaware’sannual “Chocolate Walk.”
Golden tickets to this event are $10 each and are available now at sites including Avvio Italian-American Grill, 13 W. William St.; Beehive Books, 25 N. Sandusky St.; Choffey’s Coffee and Confections, 17 W. Winter St.; Fundamentals Parent Teacher Bookstore, 25 W. Winter St.; or online with your PayPal account at mainstreetdelaware.com.
Only 200 tickets will be sold for this sweet excursion, which has sold out in years past. On Feb. 3, chocolate treats will be available from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at 23 participating downtown stores and restaurants.
The walk will begin at 20 E. Winter St., where you can purchase tickets and trade those you’ve bought in advance for a tour map and a goody bag to help you carry those goodies you don’t gobble right away.
February’s First Friday also will feature free Valentine’s Day card-making for children at Keiko’s Bead Box, 20 S. Sandusky St., and other special events to celebrate the community and city. Community organizations are welcome to set up sidewalk tables to share information.
All proceeds from the Chocolate Walk will benefit Main Street Delaware, a 501(c)(3) member-supported organization that seeks to preserve and promote historic downtown Delaware. In addition to coordinating each month’s First Friday celebration, Main Street Delaware oversees the Downtown Farmers’ Markets, maintains the downtown flower planters, coordinates the annual Christmas tree lighting, Santa’s House, holiday parade, and more.
On March 2, Main Street Delaware’s First Friday will feature a “March for Art” theme with artworks from Delaware City Schools students on display throughout the downtown. The Central Ohio Symphony also is planning some special events tied to its March 4 concert that will feature “Astronomical Pictures at an Exhibition Presented by PNC Arts Alive!”
