Tips for holiday lighting on your Delaware, Ohio, home.
  1. Replace traditional red with a little pink! Try using pink bows, ribbon, ornaments and even flowers instead of the same boring red decorations. Paired with green and gold, the holiday spirit still shines through and so does your creativity.
  2. Create a festive fixture. Adding large and colorful Christmas ornaments to your chandelier is a very easy way to add some glamour to your home. Simply hang them with some pretty ribbon. You can even curl the ends of the ribbon and drape jewels from your local craft store.
  3.  Add flowers to your tree. Bored of the same old Christmas tree decorations? Simply cut some flowers and place them throughout your tree. Use plastic tubes filled with water on the ends to make them last.  Try Poinsettias for a traditional look or mix it up by using some Roses.  Don’t want to buy flowers every year? Silk flowers can become a permanent Christmas ornament.
  4. Glowing gift boxes. These look great in your home or outdoors. Simply cut the bottoms out of some thin, white gift boxes. Wrap bright bows around them and then place the boxes over a flameless, battery-powered candle.
  5. Decorate your dinner table.  Flowers are beautiful and can be very festive. Pick up some fresh flowers and fill small sugar bowls with them. Red roses are a unique choice. Then spread them all over your dinner table. Add some pine cones and a few glittery candles and you’re done!
  6. Put up staircase decorations.  There are so many ways to decorate your staircase and if you have a dramatic one then decorating it will look beautiful. Place presents, potted plants or even a small Christmas tree on the stairs if there is room. The dollar store sells tissue paper bells that look quite nice grouped tightly and hung along the banister. Colorful coffee cups can be tied to the railings with ribbon. This makes a great place to hide holiday candy for the children.
  7. Celebrate safely with flameless candles. Flicking light from candles creates a great holiday ambiance, but most homeowners fear the risk of a fire. Flameless candles look just like the real thing and are safe and inexpensive. Line your walkway with flameless lanterns, add light to your wreath safely, or light your windows up. Flameless candles also come with scents – Our favorite is Christmas Cookie.
