Barley Hopster has a wide variety of home-brewing options -- or the finished product for those that like it now -- in downtown Delaware, Ohio. (toby boyce)
We started DelawareOH365 with a new shop in Delaware, Ohio and today we head to an even newer shop – located only a single door south of Baby Cakes.
Barley Hopsters just opened its doors and will be open Friday, Saturday and Sundays through mid-April before having its complete grand opening later in the month.
The store is a beer and wine drinker’s paradise. It has a minimalist decor that is highlighted by vintage beer cans stacked and a beer-cap counter-top. It just screams for a great time.
If you like to take the time to brew your favorite beer then this is a great place to visit. They’ve got a wide selection of hops – even some in cases just like fine cigars – and other equipment whether you’re brewing that first keg or a seasoned brewer.

Barley Hopsters is Delaware, Ohio's newest business to open along the Main Street Delaware corridor. (toby boyce)
For those that like to buy it and drink it today, Barley Hopsters also offers an extensive collection of beer and wine. The beer selection is easily the best in town and a nice collection of unique wines – even including a few Ohio selections. My favorite piece of the beer selection is that the price is for a single bottle, so you don’t feel tied into buying that six-pack and hoping you’ll like that new brew. Though they do offer discounts when you buy six- or twelve- packs.
In addition they do offer a wide selection of root beers including Sioux City Sarsaparilla – which is also at Beehive – at the best price in town.
Barley Hopsters is located at 43 North Sandusky Street in downtown Delaware, Ohio.
