Dublin will kick off its annual Irish Festival on Thursday, August 5, with the annual Dub Crawl.
The Dublin Irish Festival will run from Friday, August 6, through Saturday, August 7.
Visitors are in for a wide-selection of Gaelic gifts and Irish goodies at the 2010 Dublin Irish Festival. The mix of merchandise and Celtic cuisine usually found only in the Emerald Isle is as close as Dublin, Ohio. Thirty new Marketplace and Emerald Isle applications were received this year from 23 states and Canada. Among the seven new vendors selected are Signs of the Spirit featuring hand carved cedar knots, spiritual symbols and wood burned items; The Complete Knight featuring children’s wooden shields, swords and daggers; and Faivus Studio featuring Tiffany-style stained glass.
On the equally important food side, new to the Festival this year are Mary Kelley’s Restaurant featuring Irish nachos and reuben wraps and Quaker Corporation featuring funnel cakes. As always, there will be plenty of fish and chips, scones, bangers and Irish stew.
Of course there has to be entertainment and with 7 stages, 65 acts, and more than 545 performers it definately fits the bill.
The Festival Dedication takes place Friday at the Time Warner Trinity Stage. Throughout the weekend, this stage is set for performances by Luka Bloom, Brigid’s Cross, The Clancy Legacy, Tommy Sands and His Irish Band and more.
Killian’s Celtic Rock Stage opens Friday with Homeland and closes with Gaelic Storm, proven Festival favorites. Also featured throughout the weekend on the Celtic Rock Stage are Enter the Haggis, Barleyjuice, Scythian, Seven Nations and Saw Doctors.
The ScottsMiracle-Gro Dublin Stage kicks-off with The General Guinness Band. Throughout the weekend, see and hear Solas, Natalie MacMaster, Lúnasa and Richens/Timm Academy of Irish Dance. Fans of the traditional Irish music and dance featured on this stage may want to purchase a membership in the new Dub Club, which offers stage side views, a private beverage station and private restrooms. This $50 ticket includes admission to the Festival.
The Irish Thunder Stage is a variety show like no other. Check out Capital City Pipe & Drum, Vinegar Hill, Irish Fiddle Fetish, The Tartan Terrors and more. You’ll find yourself returning time and again for this adrenalin rush.
Other entertainment stages include the Shamrock Pub, the Cardinal Health Ceili Dance Tent and the Celtic Music House. The Shamrock Pub plays host to The Hooligans, Knot Fibb’n, and Roger Drawdy and the Firestarters. The Cardinal Health Ceili Dance Tent features members of four dance academies. The Celtic Music House features Mossy Moran on Friday and Sunday and a Singer/Songwriter Circle on Saturday.
Dublin Irish Festival daily ticket is $10 and a weekend ticket is $23. A Festival ticket includes a discount when purchased in advance, an opportunity to customize and download a schedule and a weekend to remember. Visit its Web site for a complete entertainment schedule and to purchase tickets.

[...] Irish Eyes 'A Smilin' In Dublin [...]
Hi Toby. Thanks for the great write-up about the Dublin Irish Festival (DIF)! (Twice named a “Top 100 Event in North America” by the American Bus Association!) The event actually runs through Sunday, August 8 — and that day will host the “World’s Largest Gathering of Redheads!” (http://www.dublinirishfestival.org/redhead)–a first time event for DIF. It should be lots of fun. For local folks who are seeking hotels near the Fest for out-of-town friends/family (or locals who would just rather not drive home after showin’ a little Irish Attitude), the Dublin CVB is offering an “Irish Festival Hotel Package” offering discounted rates at 6 Dublin properties with half-price Festival tickets. (www.IrishisanAttitude.com) For your readers that have never attended DIF, they are in for a treat!
