Ohio Wesleyan Brings Three National Acts to Delaware

Ohio Wesleyan University, in Delaware, Ohio, will host three acts at its annual SpringFest celebration on Friday, April 16, at 7 p.m. in the university’s Gordon Field House.

Mashup-artist Milkman will open the show, followed by rapper Ghostface Killah, and Canadian Indie rock band Broken Social Scene. Tickets are $20 for the general public and are available online.

Milkman is the stage name of hip-hop/dance/rock music producer Gregg Luskin, named “Hottest Mashup DJ of 2008” and “DJ to Watch Out For” by DJ Forum. He began working as a mashup artist while a first-year student the University of California, Santa Barbara. His latest CD, “Circle of Fifths,” was released in 2009.

Ghostface Killah is the stage name of Dennis Coles, critically acclaimed for his loud, fast-paced rapping with stream-of-consciousness narratives. His latest CD, “Ghostdini the Wizard of Poetry in Emerald City,” was released in September. Before going solo, he performed with Wu-Tang Clan.

Broken Social Scene is a Toronto-based group of musicians who also perform solo and with various other bands. The group’s sound is considered a combination of all of its members’ respective projects, and is characterized by a wide variety of sounds including grand orchestrations featuring guitars, horns, woodwinds, and violins, and unusual song structures. Its “You Forgot It in People” album received an Alternative Album of the Year Juno Award in 2003. Its fifth full-length album, “Forgiveness Rock Record,” is scheduled for release in May.

Ohio Wesleyan’s annual SpringFest, which attracts nationally known musical acts, includes student involvement in various features, such as construction and setup of the stage. About 2,800 tickets are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Doors will open at 6 p.m.
