Three Tips to Get Your Bike Ready to Ride

  1. Put Air in Tires Overnight. “We’ll often get bikes in the shop where the owner says I need new tubes and tires because it was flat. The cold weather will make tires go flat, so put air in the tires and let it sit overnight. You might not need those new tubes and tires.”
  2. Test the Brakes. “Again winter will change how the bike’s brakes operate. So take the time to test them – they could drag or be too loose – before going for that first ride.”
  3. Check the Chain. “This is important especially if the bike is stored in damp area. The chain could become corrodded and that will make for a rough ride.”

Don’t feel comfortable doing this on your own?

Then take your bike to Breakaway Cycling which is a complete service center in downtown Delaware, Ohio. The winter hours (through March 31) are 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. from Monday until Friday, 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Saturday and closed Sunday. Breakaway Cycling is located at 17 West William Street – next to Hoggy’s Restaurant – in downtown Delaware.
