Yesterday, we began our tour of the Bed & Breakfasts throughout Delaware County in Delaware and today we head southeast to historic Westerville, Ohio.
It has been a long hard winter in Central Ohio. The snow keeps falling and just when we think it is over … another blast comes around the bend. Are you sick of being stuck at home? Want to get away? Of course you do. But with these weather systems it is hard to plan, and who has the money to go great distances right now? Have I got a plan for you! Why not take a night away – getting to one of Delaware’s fine bed and breakfast inns – without having to worry about travel and just leave the kids and the dogs at Grandma’s house for the night.
Our next stop is The College Inn Bed & Breakfast in beautiful historic-downtown Westerville, Ohio. And what a stop it is. The house has a ton of history from its beginnings as a fraternity house, to falling into extreme disrepair, and now back to life courtesy of the loving hands of Becky Rohrer.
“When I bought the house there was nothing but a shell,” Rohrer recently shared. “At the time, I was just coming out of a divorce. It was like we were starting over together.”
That was 14 years ago, and it appears that Rohrer and The College Inn Bed & Breakfast are a match made in heaven. The only remaining inn in Westerville offers three rooms – each with a private bathroom – along with formal living room, dining room, library, and lounge in this 1874 home. All of which is done in a beautiful period style that really enhances the amazing experience. Guests aren’t required to stay in 1874 though as high-speed wireless access is available throughout the house and gardens. But the experience goes well beyond the home’s brick and mortar.
“We even offer Domino – the Inn dog – for those that want to have company during their time at the Inn, or even while taking a walk around downtown Westerville,” Rohrer continued.

The dog is just one of the wonderful amenities offered by the Inn. Only one block from the quaint shops and restaurants along State Street guests can easily walk downtown to enjoy meals — or have them delivered to the Inn. “I also try to introduce the guests to each other,” Rohrer commented. “One of the wonderful things about staying in a bed and breakfast is the chance to get to know the other visitors.”

Of course, with breakfast being half-the-title it is very important to the guests of any bed and breakfast experience. The College Inn Bed & Breakfast is no exception as Rohrer offers guests a customized menu that guests can choose during check-in.
However, guests don’t have to worry about “surprise” visitors during their stay. The Inn has a lighted parking lot, consistently updated keyless entry, and deadbolts on all the room’s doors.
The College Inn Bed & Breakfast is located at 63 West College Avenue in Westerville between State and Grove Street (or Otterbein College). Rooms range in price from $125 – $165 per night and The College Inn Bed & Breakfast does offer corporate discounts. Contact Rohrer today at (888) 794-3090 or via e-mail, to book your room and be sure to tell her that Toby & Sadie sent you.
