Ohio Wesleyan University’s 2010 Economic Outlook Conference will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, February 15, in Chappelear Drama Center in Delaware, Ohio.

The public is invited to a free panel discussion in which experts will examine the short-term and long-term economic outlook for the region, nation, and world. Each panelist will speak for 15 minutes and then respond to questions and comments from the audience. This year’s panelists are:
- Jim Newton, Ph.D., chief economic adviser for Commerce National Bank in Columbus. Newton will share his insight on the regional economic outlook. He also is the president and owner of Economic Perspectives Inc., and is an adjunct professor at The Ohio State University and at DeVry University, where he teaches courses in economics and statistics. He earned a doctorate in adult education in economics from The Ohio State University, and a master’s degree in economics and a bachelor’s degree in social studies education from Wright State University in Dayton.
- Emre Ergungor, Ph.D., research economist for the Research Department of the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland. Ergungor will discuss the national economic outlook. He earned his doctorate in finance from the University of Michigan, his master’s in business administration from Koc University in Istanbul, Turkey, and his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Bogazici University in Istanbul.
- Leo de Bever, Ph.D., chief executive officer of Alberta Investment Management Corporation in Alberta, Canada. He will discuss the international economic forecast. He earned a doctorate in economics from the University of Wisconsin and a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Oregon. De Bever also is a member of the Investment Advisory Committee of Dutch pension fund APG, serves on the board of the International Centre for Pension Management (based in Toronto), and serves on the Federal Advisory Committee on Financing in Canada.
The annual Economic Outlook Conference is co-sponsored by Ohio Wesleyan’s Department of Economics and by the Woltemade Center for Economics, Business and Entrepreneurship. Goran Skosples, assistant professor of economics, will serve as moderator. The conference also will be streamed line online.
