Nova Restaurant will have a New Year’s Party beginning at 9 p.m. on December 31 and running through to 1 a.m. on January 1.
Main Street director Jo Hamilton says, “Invite your friends, introduce them to Nova for the New Year. Shop local, eat local, drink local. Your New Year’s Resolution: Support your favorite restaurant all year.”
Nova Restaurant is located in downtown Delaware just north of the Sandusky and William Street intersection.

You know, I really like Delaware and how the Main Street has developed over the past decade. I definitely agree with the proposition that small-town residents should spend locally, lest their small town deteriorate.
I like Nova, at least, I really try to…they just make it so hard to continue doing so. The concept is great, and the food is generally pretty darn good. The first time we went there, it was in the slow part of the day (only good time to go, it seems): the manager served us, and we were blown away. Went a few other times, and it was, eh, acceptable…usually takes too long.
We did try to go there for New Year’s eve before. In fact, we even pre-booked: they already had the time and our order! That was a great idea, Nova! It worked: they were packed. Unfortunately, even with all orders pre-sumbitted, they somehow managed to run out of the food we ordered… Talk about horrible execution. So, we waited for an hour for drinks and an app, then waited some more for our server to come back, which never happened, so we tossed some money on the table and left. Talk about a let-down.
So, tip for Nova: why not use those orders you have ahead of time and plan & order your supplies accordingly? And, tip for diners: don’t get excited. Expect less; that way, you’ll be less let-down, perhaps- if Nova gets it together- even pleasantly surprised.
Or, try Hoggies (r.i.p. Brown Jug)…talk about stellar location, and hopefully if it is nice they’ll have a big fire in that outdoor fireplace.
