The public is invited to join the Ohio Wesleyan University community for cocoa, cookies, and caroling during the lighting of the Ron Hudler Memorial Christmas Tree at 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, December 6.

Those attending this free outdoor event should gather at the tree just north of the Edwards Gymnasium parking lot, 105 S. Sandusky St. In case of bad weather, the festivities will move indoors to nearby University Hall.

Ohio Wesleyan’s 14-foot Christmas tree was a gift from Hudler Tree Farms, one of the nation’s largest Christmas tree farms, in memory of Ron Hudler, Class of 1956. Hudler operated the North Carolina farm with his three sons prior to his death during a 2008 robbery at the farm. His son, Dale Hudler, is expected to attend this second annual event.

In addition to providing Ohio Wesleyan’s Christmas tree, Hudler Tree Farms previously has provided a White House Christmas tree as well as trees representing the 50 states, five territories, and District of Columbia for the “Pageant of Peace” trees that encircle the national Christmas tree in Washington, D.C.
