“We just had dinner at that new Mexican restaurant — I don’t even know the name — and it was pretty good,” we overheard last night by several people during Main Street Delaware’s First Friday celebration.

Fiesta Mexico, otherwise known as “that new Mexican restauant”, has taken Delaware, Ohio, by storm.

Owner Angelica Cortez is serving up authentic Mexican cuisine, including tamales, enchiladas, and burritos. Although Cortez has run restaurants in Mexico, this is her first such venture in the United States. Fiesta Mexico offers breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

We’ve been then to Fiesta Mexico several times since they opened and have been very impressed with everything we’ve tried. One of the “coolest” things to me is that the restaurant is a lot less Tex-Mex and seems to be more traditional. The lower left-side of the menu is there more traditional Mexican dishes and I’ve been “eating” there a lot lately. I really like the items from sopes to the sandwich (which I can’t remember the name) in the photo above for a very reasonable price — $3.50 for the sandwich and two sopes — with large portions.

Current hours are 8:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 8:30 a.m. to 2 a.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 2 a.m. Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday. (740) 369-3151. The restaurant is located at 12 West William Street in downtown Delaware, Ohio.
