“Geothermal heat” is a phrase that is popping up in more-and-more listings.
Why?
As the cost of heating and cooling continues to rise, geothermal has become a very attractive way to reduce the cost of your monthly heating bills while receiving a comfortable temperature year round.
“I’ve got geothermal and I love it!” is a common response from those with it.
However, the biggest detraction to geothermal is the initial outlay that usually is about $15,000 more than a traditional heating system. Of course, that will be made back — over time — in the monthly savings for your heating and cooling system.
Geothermal is basically a collection of holes in the ground that are used to heat/cool water to the ground’s natural 55-degree consistent level. That level of comfort is then transferred back into the house and used to stabilize the house’s internal temperature through a forced-air system.
