With the holiday weekend rapidly approaching, it is time to look at events that will be happening around the county this weekend.
Delaware, July 4
- 11:30 a.m.: Parade begins at Delaware County Fairgrounds
- 8 p.m.: Free outdoor concert by the Central Ohio Symphony at Ohio Wesleyan University’s Phillips Glen
- 10 p.m.: Fireworks, best seen from Henry Street/OWU Practice Field
Johnstown, July 2
- Dusk: Fireworks at Johnstown-Monroe high school
Ostrander, July 4
- 10 a.m.: Parade begins
- Noon: Ostrander Civic Association Chicken Barbeque
- Dusk: Fireworks
Prospect, July 4
- Noon: All day event with food and kids’ activities
- Dusk: Fireworks
- All events take place at Prospect Park
Sunbury-Big Walnut, July 4
- 7 a.m.-5 p.m.: Flea Market on the Square $1 admission charge (children 10 and under are free). Proceeds help pay for community fireworks.
- 9 a.m.: Tenth Annual Memorial Volleyball Tournament
- 9 a.m.-12 p.m.: Farmer’s Market in the National City Bank parking lot. Tickets at $10 for non-season pass holders.
- 10 a.m.: Parade through Sunbury
- 11 a.m.: Football Skills Contest at J.R. Smith Park
- 12 p.m.: Fun Frolics at Big Walnut High School Football Field
- 7 p.m.: Community Concert at Big Walnut High School Auditorium, Big Walnut Community Chorus will perform.
- 7-10 p.m.: Fire Safety/Smoke House. “House” will be set up in lower parking lot by the high school football field. There will also be a bounce house and musical entertainment beginning at 8.
- 10 p.m.: Community Fireworks at the high school football field
Westerville, July 4
- 6-7:45 a.m.: 5k Walk/Run Registration
- 8-9:30 a.m.: 5k Walk/Run & Family Fun Run at Alum Creek Park
- 1:30 p.m.: Parade starts at Heatherdown and State Street
- 9 p.m.: Westerville Symphony performs, Westerville Sports Complex, 325 N. Cleveland Ave.
- 10 p.m.: Fireworks at Alum Creek Park South
