Ohio Light Opera is going to have another great year of productions at the College of Wooster about 1-1/2 hours northeast of Delaware.
I started going to the Ohio Light Opera about 12 years ago as a student at Mt. Union College and have tried to make it an annual event for my family. Why? Because it is a wonderful experience with talented performers that lend an amazing feeling of sophistication to north-central Ohio’s blue-collar landscape.
This year, the productions will include Fiddler on the Roof, Of Thee I Sing, Mlle. Modiste, H.M.S. Pinafore, Ruddigore, The Beautiful Helen of Troy, and A Night in Venice. There are two Gilbert & Sullivan productions on this year’s calendar and the majority were written prior to 1900. The first production will be on Friday at 2 p.m. with Fiddler on the Roof.
All the productions are housed in Freedlander Theatre, a location that is well-suited for hosting a show of this magnitude and comfortable chairs. Tickets are $45 per adult, $20 per student, and $10 per child and can be ordered online.
If you go, eating dinner at Matsos is a requirement as it just takes the experience to the next level. Wooster is also home to a large Everything Rubbermaid store.
The College of Wooster is located in Wooster off US 30 about 1-1/2 hours northeast of Delaware.
