Today kicks off the official celebration of the Memorial Day Holiday with a parade through the streets of downtown Delaware beginning at 3 p.m.
If you’ve never been to a Delaware Parade – either Memorial, Labor, All-Horse of Christmas – you need to make your way downtown today. A Delaware parade is an event with people throwing “parade parties” up and down Sandusky Street — it isn’t uncommon for a home on parade route to have that included as a key point when it sells. We take our parades that seriously!
The other festivities in Delaware County take place on Monday including:
- Ashley – 9 a.m., parade, dontown to Ashley Union Cemetary.
- Powell – 10 a.m., parade, post office to the village green.
- Radnor – 10 a.m., parade, Baptist Church to cemetary.
- Sunbury – 10 a.m., parade, J.R. Smith Park to Sunbury Memorial Park.
- Galena – 1 p.m., parade, village square to village cemetary.
