The economy has finally hit home in Delaware, Ohio.

Downtown Delaware has had three businesses announce in the past two weeks that they will shutter their doors due to the current economic situation. Snouffer Apparel, Saltbox Interiors and Trotters Coffee Company are either in the process of closing or have already shuttered their doors.

The loss of these three stores should be a wake-up call to everyone in the greater Delaware area. We have wonderful businesses in town and in these challenging times we need to be supporting our local vendors.

Gretchen’s birthday was Friday and she got her new prescription sunglasses from Dr. Nierdekohr on West Central, the wine from Simple Indulgence on North Sandusky, and the flowers from Robinson’s Flower Shop on Lake Street. I’m not bragging, just pointing out that there are great opportunities within our own Delaware community.
