Hartford Grocery Taking New Aim to Raise Funds

Croton Market is undergoing a  $110,000 campaign, much like what the local non-profits attempt, according to today’s Columbus Dispatch.

While non-profits and colleges will often undergo campaigns asking for public support, it isn’t often that a community business will do the same. But in today’s economic climate nothing is off-limits. The first event is a craft show that will be held at the store today.

“We wanted to do something that would draw attention to Croton,” said owner Lori Lappierre in the Dispatch. “We have wonderful little businesses here and we’ve all been racking our brains about how to stay profitable.”

I’m very excited to see how this unique attempt goes.

Croton, or Hartford, is located about five miles east of the Licking and Delaware County Line and is best known as the home of the Hartford Independent Fair.
