Why Delaware? The Water

Sitting quietly along the shores of the Twin Lakes along Dublin Road and the O’ Shaughnessy Reservoir this picnic table sits lonely on a bright winter day.

But, a water lover will very rarely be lonely in Delaware County, Ohio. Delaware is home to two key rivers – Scioto and Olentangy – and three large reservoirs – Alum Creek, Delaware, and O’ Shaughnessy. So from, Delaware to Bellepoint, from Ashley to Radnor, from Shawnee Hills to Berkshire you are never more than a few miles from one of the primary water ways or the tributaries that lead to them.

These miles of streams, rivers, and lakes provide an amazing amount of water-front enjoyment. One of the things that I was able to collect from Dad’s belongings was his boat, and while I was only able to take it out one time this past year, I’m looking forward to enjoying the wonderful waterways next spring and summer for fishing and some recreational boating.

Thinking about Delaware, Ohio may not instantly bring our water ways to mind, but it isn’t far behind.
