Scioto Valley Brass & Percussion will play its annual Yuletide in Brass show on Saturday at 3 pm in Fick Auditorium at the Pontifical College Josephinum.
The show is free and open to the public. “In light of this holiday season amidst rough economic times, and due to the unfortunate weather-related cancellation of our 2007 holiday concert, this year’s event will be FREE to the public!” states the group’s Web site.
“Let the Scioto Valley Brass and Percussion Co. transform a cold, gray winter afternoon into a heart-warming, joyful event for the entire family to enjoy. The spiritual side of the season will be heard with traditional pieces such as Go Tell it on the Mountain and a riveting vocal rendition of Child of Peace by band member David Muelenburg. Fantasies come to life with Dances from The Nutcracker Suite, and listen closely to hear How the Grinch Stole Christmas! Sugarplums will dance in your head as the classic Night Before Christmas is brought to life through music and storytelling combined. Before the night is through, everyone in the audience will get a chance to make music together with a Christmas Carol Sing Along.” According to the group’s Web site.
Scioto Valley Brass & Percussion, under the direction of composer Chris Hoch, is a 35-piece British-style brass band comprised of central Ohio musicians.
Pontifical College Josephinum is located at the intersection of High Street (U.S. 23) and I-270 just south of the Delaware and Franklin County lines. (Mapquest).
