Gretchen and I received the advertisement from Kohl’s yesterday announcing that their newest store will open in Glennwood Commons on Wednesday at 8 a.m.
We drove through the development last night and the store looks very ready to open. Clothes are on the racks and it looks just like any other Kohl’s would — minus the customers.
There were a few other “coming soon” signs …

- Office Max
- Maurices - moving from Wal-Mart plaza on 23
- AAA - moving from Damon’s plaza on 23
- First Choice Hair Cutters
- Hibbit Sports
- Nail Salon
- Famous Footwear
This was in addition to the Meijer store and gas station that is in construction and the Home Depot that is currently on hold until at least 2009.
I was dissapointed to see the two buildings move across town to new digs. It fuels my concern about what is going to happen to the strip-malls on Delaware’s south side.
Both Gretchen and I were dissapointed in the lack of food establishments that were coming soon in the area. Of course, it appears that they will have outlots space which could very easily be the restaurants that have been mentioned.

Has anyone heard which restaurants might be opening up over there?

I was really dissapointed that none of the restaurants were listed as “coming soon”. We’ve heard everything from Cameron Mitchell to Chipolte and Burger King. It seems everyone has a “guess” but no “real” information yet.
