Ohio Wesleyan’s Hosting Bicenntenial Exhibit

Richard M. Ross Art Museum will join in Delaware County’s bicentennial celebration with a special three-part exhibit opening Aug. 21.

The display will include “Disappearing Landscapes of Delaware County,” a collection of colored pencil, oil, and acrylic works by local artist Linda Wesner. Wesner is a signature member of the Colored Pencil Society of America and a juried member of The National Association of Women Artists, Inc. She earned undergraduate and graduate degrees in art from the State University of New York, Oswego.

Wesner’s award-winning work shares her impressions of what she describes as “forgotten paths, old agricultural and commercial buildings, and sunlit natural forms.” She is expected to be on hand for a free exhibit reception at the museum from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Aug. 28.

Ross Art Museum’s bicentennial display also will feature “Remembering Delaware,” a collection of memorabilia celebrating the history of the City of Delaware. Included in this one-of-a-kind display will be old bank notes, advertising signs, and even a booth from Bun’s Restaurant. Historic photographs and a hand-colored lithograph from Ohio Wesleyan’s archives also will be exhibited.

A display of “Vintage Quilts of Delaware County” will round out the museum’s bicentennial exhibit. The quilts will be exhibited through Oct. 12. The landscape paintings and city memorabilia will be exhibited through Sept. 21.

Ross Art Museum, located at 60 South Sandusky Street, is open Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.; and Sundays from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. The museum is closed Mondays and Saturdays.
