Appalachian Butterfly Conference Coming

Butterflies are one of the most beautiful of God’s creatures, morphing from an unassuming catepilar into such a beautiful and delicate creature.

On August 9-10, Ohio Department of Natural Resources will celebrate the beauty of butterflies during the Appalachian Butterfly Conference.

The event will be the first butterflies conference and will include Jaret Daniels, author of Butterflies of Ohio on Saturday.

Held at the Shawnee State Park, the conference costs $125 for the three-day event. Some of the species hoped to be spotted include:Butterflies

  • Hayhurst’s Scallopwing
  • Gemmed Satyr
  • Juniper
  • White-M hairstreaks
  • Cloudless Sulphur
  • Little Sulphur
  • Sachem
  • Checkered White

It should be a ton of fun in Shawnee State Park, not to mention staying in the beautiful Shawnee State Park Lodge.
