New Mexican Restaurant in Mt. Vernon

Fiesta Express, Mt. Vernon

Gretchen and I met up with Mom and the Grandparents at Fiesta Express Mexican Restaurant on Mt. Vernon’s east side on Sunday.

The location was one of the state’s best Pizza Huts and has been sitting vacant for several years as they made the move over to the Mexican Restaurant. So the anticipation was very high as we took our chances in the new location.

The food portions were large and the price was right. With Vaquero’s now charging for extra chips, it was “cool” to get a fill-up on the chips as we waited for our food without even asking.

The house salsa was very good to me, but then I like food that is a little on the spicy side.

Gretchen went with the Nacho Supreme and I chose the Chicken Burro. We warned about the portion size, but I have to say that my football sized burrito was beyond my “large-man” expectations.

The five of us enjoyed all we could take — and probably a few more — for about $62 (including tip).

Gretchen felt some discomfort after the meal, but she blamed it on me dunking her in the pool — not on the food.

Photo was taken by Toby Boyce on my Verizon VX6800 mobile pc.
