Delaware County Memorial Day Events

The unofficial beginning of summer starts with us looking back on Monday in observance of the Memorial Day holiday.

And like many other places, Delaware County is going to be buzzing with events all weekend according to DelawareCountyEvents.com.

In Delaware a historic plaque will be dedicated by the Delaware County Historic Society at Noon at the Oak Grove Cemetery and Arboretum.

Memorial Day services begin at 1 p.m. in Galena on the village square.

Powell’s event kicks off at 8:30 a.m. with the parade at 10 a.m. at Village Green Park and downtown.

The annual Memorial Day Flea Market on the Square will take place in Sunbury from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m., sponsored by the BWHS Music & Marching Boosters.

One of the county’s top memorial day celebrations is in Radnor and this year’s will be bigger and better than ever as we celebrate the City and County’s Bicentennial. From 8-10 breakfast will be served at Congregational UCC. The Radnor Historic Museum will be open from 9-10 a.m. and the parade will begin at 10 a.m. with a memorial service at 10:30 a.m. featuring:

  • Flyover by World War II planes
  • Buckeye Valley Alumni Band
  • Constitution Preamble and Gettysburg address by local youth
  • Adult and youth choirs
  • Recognition of veterans
  • Talk by The Honorable Judge Everett H. Krueger
  • Decoration of veterans’ graves with flowers by children

At 11 a.m. the Hog Roast, silent auction, and other activities by Radnor Fire Department at the Radnor Fire Station. The Radnor Museum will reopen from 11:30 a.m. until 3 p.m.
