Bog Tour Day in Buckeye Lake

Buckeye Lake’s legendary Cranberry Bog is dissapearing and could very well be gone in the next 50 years.

The mossy area was 50 acres when it surfaced in the 1820s and is already down to 10.25 acres — and has lost nearly two acres in the last 15 years.

So don’t miss your chance to visit the blog on Saturday June 21, when the Ohio Department of Natural Resources provides a rare opportunity for visitors to view this lovely location.

Only 400 people will be allowed to take part in the visit and to enter the lottery, send a postcard, limited to one per family to the Division of Natural Areas & Preserves, 2045 Morse Road, Bldg. F-1, Columbus, Ohio 43229. The deadline is May 31 and the postcard should include your name, mailing address, phone number and total number (up to four) in your party.

The Greater Buckeye Lake Historical Society will provide boat transportation for only $5 per person as a suggested donation. But, hey it is a suggested donation … so why not give more.
