Happy Mother’s Day!

It has been a trying year for our family.

Last Mother’s Day, Mom was celebrating her first as a grandmother.

This Mother’s Day, She is “celebrating” her first as a widow.

As with most everything in life, we spend time morning the loss of loved ones, and at times we seem to “forget” those that are still here. The ones that are right in front of our faces.

For this Mother’s Day, my gift to everyone is simple … Stop. Take a Moment. And Enjoy Life and Those in Your Life.

Mom didn’t get a gift from us this year, I tried, really I did. But I couldn’t get into the shopping feeling for the holiday. Nothing seemed “right” for the person that gave me life and is in many ways responsible for me keeping myself moving forward and coping with Dad’s passing.

Thanks Mom for all you do, now here is a gift certificate.

Now I know that Gretchen meant well, and Mom would have enjoyed it has we done it. But it isn’t what I wanted to give her. In a strange way I feel like making something for her … something totally silly … like a macaroni painting.

Okay, so maybe not. But I’m working on something that says “I love you Mom!”
