The image of a “perfect” day to look at houses, would usually conjure up thoughts of sunny days with a light breeze. A perfect day for a Sunday drive.
Well if you are just checking out open houses and beginning to “kick the tires”, you’re right. However, if you are really wanting to buy real estate — today would be a perfect day to be out looking at homes.
But Toby, it is raining and yucky today.
Exactly! Remember the old adage “everybody is your friend when the going is easy”? But what happens when the going gets tough?
Looking at homes can be the exact same way. I took the video (sorry for the amateur look) in a local listing on a recent rainy day. Because I had my clients out and about on this rainy day, they walked away from the listing and have lived to look another day.
Now what if it had been a sunny day?
With the number of repossessed properties on the market - it is not a guarantee you will receive a property residential disclosure that provides any information. At best it could have been caught by the home inspector, however my buyers would have still been out $300 for the inspection. Or at worse the deal goes through and my buyers suddenly are stuck with a property that they can’t live in and possibly can’t afford to fix up.
So next time the forecast calls for rain, give me a call I’ll be glad to show you some properties.
Video is property of Toby Boyce (c) 2008 and was taken on my Verizon XV6800.
