American Electric Power Ohio has recently announced that customers can purchase green blocks to off-set their energy usage.
The program allows customers to purchase as little as two blocks for $1.40 or offset the average home’s energy usage by purchasing $7 worth of units.
I first learned of this program in a recent “Tuesday Tipper” column in the Delaware Gazette and it really makes a great point of how we can each give back to our community.
This program is very similar to the carbon offset programs that are becoming popular with cars and other environmental factors. In this case the off-set comes from a methane land-fill project.
