How long have you lived in your home?
How long have you had your current washer?
Or more important, how long has it been since you inspected your washer hoses?
That’s right, Ask This Old House suggests that you change your washer hoses every three to five years. That seems a little short of a life span to me, but I would suggest inspecting the hoses every year to check for cracking, hardness, or dry rot and replacing them if they shown signs of fatigue.
Fifteen minutes of time could save you hours of work if one of theses hose’s break and you are left to mop up the floor and clean up the water overflow.
