Faces of Delaware: A Personal Touch

Toby and Gretchen - Wedding - Laura Hooper (c)

Faces of Delaware has mostly been about the buildings and attractions that make Delaware County, Ohio a great place to live, work, and play.

However, if that was all that Delaware is and was, it would be a museum and not the vibrant community that it is becoming. It is the people that make this a wonderful community. This is especially touching to me this morning as I consider that four years ago today, Gretchen made me one of the happiest people on Earth by saying “I do” at a small church in Tiffin, Ohio. (You can see more pictures here.) What does our anniversary have to do with the people of Delaware?

Well in my mind we are your typical Delaware family. Making our Locust Curve house a home, and making Delaware our “adopted” hometown.

I’m involved in everything, Gretchen’s more reserved and active in one or two organizations. I’m the outgoing one, she’s the shy introvert. We are a great blend and compliment each other very well. And this town needs and wants both of us to be involved.

Thanks for making the past four years the best I could have ever hoped for.”

Just like there are opportunities for everyone in Delaware County to support something they believe in. Because of our rapid growth over past decade, the population has out-stripped its resources in some areas and the need for volunteers to fill the gap is great.

And the people of Delaware step-up and do everything they can.

So my hat’s off to each and every resident of Delaware County. And for that special one in my life, I say “thanks for making the past four years so wonderful”.
