A Giammarcos Pizza, Pasta, and Subs advertisement appeared in one of the new phone books and the menu looked good so Gretchen and I gave it a try on Saturday night.
All we have to say is … Yum-o. Recently, I was discussing Delaware County’s lack of authentic Italian restaurants. Not anymore. Any time we hunger for real Italian, we’ll be heading to Westerville for some Giammarcos.
Giammarcos has been voted the best spaghetti and lasagna in several publications, and it was easy to see why. The sauces were smooth and offered a lovely flavor that blended well no matter its compliment.
We began the meal with the Pizza Dough Pillows ($3.95) and a side of the marinara sauce. If the pillows were made from the pizza dough, I’d have to say it would definately be worth a try — and based upon the number of take out orders we saw we wouldn’t be the only ones to enjoy a pie.
Gretchen ordered the spaghetti with two meat balls ($10.95) and you could tell that the noodles were homemade and had a great consistency that you don’t see in the store bought brands. She loved the meatballs and they were moist and absolutely one of the best ever.
I had the House Combination Platter ($11.95) which included gnoche, spaghetti, cheese ravioli, a meatball, and a spicy sausage. I am not a huge fan of ravioli, however this was one of the best I’ve ever had. The meatballs were great, however I wasn’t overly excited by the sausage as it was a little overcooked. However, the gnochi was firm and had a flavor that only comes from being made onsite.
If you go, Giammarcos is located on South State Route 3, north of Maxtown Road/Polaris Parkway in Westerville.
