Spanish Storytimes Coming to Delaware Ohio!

October 1st, 2007 · 1 Comment

Spanish Storytimes - www.spanishstorytimes.comDelaware, Ohio has a growing Spanish-speaking population as does much of the nation.

And on Thursday the Delaware County District Library will present Spanish Storytimes at 6:30 p.m. at the main branch.

According to Spanish Storytimes’ Web site the event began in 2002.

Spanish Storytimes started in 2002 when Cheryl Unzueta was searching central Ohio for Spanish-language activities for her three bilingual children. She found none, so after attending an English storytime at her local public library (Upper Arlington), she inquired if they would allow her to present something similar, but in Spanish. The turn-out to this inaugural event was amazing, above and beyond what Cheryl or librarians had expected.

However the program is far from being a “Spanish-only” event as the group loves to promote the Spanish language and its stories to non-speakers as well.

The event is free and open to the public.

The Library’s main branch is located at 84 West Winter Street, at the intersection with Henry Street, in downtown Delaware. For more information contact Connie Pottle at 740-362-3861.
