Hey Seniors Today’s Your Last Day to Save Money!

Delaware County senior citizens and disabled property owners need to file for a special homestead tax exemption on Monday in order to save themselves some cash.

The program allows those that are:Money Scoop - Steve Woods (c)

  • 65 as of Dec. 31, 2007 or are totally disabled
  • Own a home or manufactored home since Jan. 1, 2007
  • Proof of age via driver’s license, State ID, or valid passport

The exemption will allow approved members the opportunity to receive an exemption on the first $25,000 of their appraised home value. If your home was valued at $100,000 you would be taxed as if was valued at $75,000.

You can download the form, and it will need to be hand-delivered to the Auditor’s Office at the County’s Hayes Administrative Office (140 N. Sandusky St.).
