Ohio State opens at noon on Saturday against those high-powered Penguins of Youngstown State (their first I-AA opponent ever). The Browns open their season on Sept. 9 agains the much-hated Steelers in Cleveland.
It’s a great time of year.
The photograph is of our niece, Alexa, who has weird parents — they are Cowboy fans — so we had to get her some good football atire to enjoy during her first football season!
Go Browns! Go Bucks!

“…much-hated Steelers in Cleveland.” What-the-whoda!?
Us Pittsburghers usually refer to “that” town as the “Mistake on the Lake”.
Oh, it’s on now! Go Steelers!!!
See ya in the comic books. (A little Harvey Pekar humor.)

Sorry Stacey, and yes your Steelers will kill my Browns on Sunday; so give me my one day of pre-season trash talking before I curl up into a little ball and slip away quietly.

No worries.
I miss this time of year in da ‘burgh. I think the fans of Pittsburgh were nearly as happy to see the Browns back in that dreadful city (I just can’t stop) as those in Cleveland.
Maybe someday they will not just have a pro team, but also a good one, once again. Oh, I’m so sorry, it’s like having Tourette Syndrome.

I think you are right. Cleveland and Cincy are rivals because of being in the same state.
However, the Steelers are the “natural” rivals. And I’ll forgive the “tourette attacks” since well … it’s been since the early 90s that we could claim respectability.
I will admit that I love Pittsburgh - as a city - and was within a guilty conscious of being the SID at Carnegie Mellon a few years ago. I think PNC Park is the best place to take in a baseball game. I’ve never been to Heinz Park and have to admit that it would be very difficult for me to do so, until I get to take in a game at Browns Stadium.
