One of my “guilty pleasures” is that I absolutely love tractor pulls. There is something about the scene of a “super-smoker” cranking that diesel up and watching the weight fly up the sled as the tractor bounces down the track.
Yeah, that really gets me going as well.
While, we missed the National Tractor Pulling Championships in Bowling Green this past weekend, don’t fret too much.
Fort Recovery, located about 110 miles west of Delaware, is hosting the NTPA Grand Nationals this weekend. Gates open at 4 p.m. on Friday and 3 p.m. on Saturday and tickets are $18 for adults and free for those under 11. Want to attend both days? There is plenty of room for camping with spots beginning at $5 or for those less interested in roughing-it several hotels are available in the area.
What you say that someone in your party doesn’t enjoy tractor pulls? Well the Mercer and Augaize County area offers lots of shopping and is also home to Grand Lake St. Marys and all the fun that it offers.
For tractor pull fans, this is one of the last weekends to catch National Tractor Pullers Association action in Ohio - next weekend in Wauseon and Findlay and then on Sept. 15 in Urbana.
If you go, Fort Recovery is located on the Indiana and Ohio border (MapQuest directions) and is an easy 2:15 drive from Delaware.
