Fire, Fire, Fire.
No it isn’t Beavis and Butthead, but in many parts of the United States it feels like you could burst into flames if you spend too much time outside.
Well it only seemed fitting to bring that same “style” to the Consumer-Focused Real Estate Carnival.
But first a word from our cartoonist, Jeremy Hitchcock, and his cartoon “Sinking Real Estate“.
And now for the best of this week’s 13 entries …
- The Campfire: “Camera, Lights…” is a great post on how important images are to selling your property from Minneapolis Luxury Real Estate Blog’s Jennifer Kirby.
- Get Me the Water Hose: Silicon ValleyBlogger and The Digiteri Life asked that age-old question … “Does Size Matter: How Small A House Are You Willing to Live In?” Well for some it is as small as 70 square-feet, not sure I could do that but to each their own.
- Call 911, The House is On Fire: Brian Brady’s “The Mortgage Tax Act of 2007” from The Bloodhound Blog is a very well -written post (as we expected from Brian) and a wonderful explanation of the situation.
- There Goes the Neighbors House: Searchlight Crusade’s Dan Melson brought us “How Can You Tell If A Buyer is Qualified?” Another great read in this edition.
- Another Chicago Fire: “Tools for Protecting Yourself During a Home Purchase” is a long – but worth it – read from Steve Leung’s Silicon Valley Real Estate Blog.
The cold water
This will be my final edition of the Consumer-Focused Real Estate Carnival, it has been a wonderful program and I think some very good local writers have been able to share their works to the outside world.
However, I’ve seen the quality and quantity of entries falling off and realize that this is a good time to sign-off. If someone else is interested in taking on the project then please contact me, and I’ll gladly contact the Blog Carnival folks to get the contact information changed.
I have truly enjoyed the opportunity to see what my fellow local bloggers are doing, but all good things must come to an end.
Thanks for taking the ride with me…

Thanks for this carnival edition, and I am quite sorry to hear that this is the final one! I truly enjoyed this carnival as a regular participant and will miss it….
I’d like to say thank you very much for the opportunity to join here while it lasted. It was a great ride!!
Thanks for the kind words, it has been entries like yours that has kept this going for as long as it has.
[...] out The Final Consumer-Focused Real Estate Carnival, if not for the great picture of “buns”, but also for the last of good real estate [...]
Toby, I am sad to hear this was the last one. I think it is an important type of real estate blogging I wish I would have been more supportive. I am just not a competion blogger. Thanks for having done so much work on it over the months.
Maureen – Don’t see this as an issue with consumer-focused real estate, it is a unique situation that arises because of the nature of the medium. I’m sad to see it go, but not worried about the local real estate blogs that are all over the world. – Toby
I’m sure I speak for a number of people, from agents to consumers, when I say thank you for your initiative. Consumers deserve advocacy and you helped give that cause a voice.
Toby,
Sorry to see this go. It has been fun reading and I liked hosting it the couple times I did. At least you will have time to do other things! Thanks for highlighting my post. I know I am not the best writer, and no where near the league of Brian Brady or The Digerati Life. I wish you all the best!
Jennifer,
Thanks for the nice e-mail. It was so much fun to do, however it was time for the change. I don’t know if you saw on Active Rain, but Dan Melson from the Searchlight Crusade has taken over the Carnival. It is good news for all us local bloggers.
Have a great weekend!
