News is a common connector for people and as Delaware continues to grow, the news outlets continue to try and cover it.Hence, this week’s Delaware Ohio’s best is looking at the best places to get your media coverage — focusing on newspapers since Delaware County does not a popular radio or TV station. The only radio station is Spanish speaking, and since I don’t speak Spanish, I really can’t comment on it.
The only daily newspaper in Delaware County was also the oldest family-owned paper in the nation until it was sold to Brown Publishing a few years back. The Gazette, like most small-town papers, gets a lot of negative press locally about what it doesn’t do however it is does a solid job of achieving its mission. That mission is to focus on Delaware County and focus on its niche market.
Delaware News is published by Suburban News Publications and is delivered weekly. I really like the coverage the News provides and consider it to be a very good weekly paper.
Delaware This Week is a publication of ThisWeek Community Newspapers and arrives weekly on most door steps in Delaware County, under various mast heads, for free.
Delaware County is part of the greater Columbus Metro area, and hence its covered by the Dispatch. However, it is not a major player in local news in Delaware. The Dispatch has a lot of area to cover, hence coverage of something outside of 270 requires news of the extreme — good or bad.
You’ll notice that these are not ranked because to get the most complete picture of news in Delaware you’ll need all four. However, combining the Gazette and News will get you a very good collection of Delaware news.
