New Women’s Exercise Facility Opens in Delaware

July 6th, 2007 · No Comments

Pregnent Woman Doing YogaNewu will beging offering classes on Saturday at its facility behind Shorty’s Fine Cuisine on Central Avenue across from Grady Memorial Hospital.

Newu - nutrition, exercise, wellness, you - is owned by Heather Darling and is her first foray into owning her own studio after being a certified instructor for several years. Darling injured her back in 2001 so badly that is totally affected her life, and has changed it completely. She found herself overweight, weak, and unmotivated. So she started working out at the local gym but wasn’t satisfied. She moved onto low-impact aerobics and it changed her life.

“After two years of taking that low-impact class, and other various aerobics classes, my instructor told me I had the makings of an instructor and that I should get certified,” wrote Darling on Newu’s Web site. ”While the thought had never crossed my mind, I knew she was right - I wanted to become an instructor so I could give others the same encouragement and support I received when I was recovering from my injury. I wanted to teach others how to live a healthy lifestyle and to help them reach their personal fitness goals - whatever they may be.”

She will begin the first session of classes on Saturday with low-impact and low-tempo aerobics and beginning yoga (complete schedule). Course prices are $32 for the entire eight-week session, with discounts for multiple classes taken at a time.
