I just had to chime in here as a web developer and say Wordpress is really a great blogging engine. It sure is nice to see tech savvy individuals in a town not really notable for being hip.

With regards to Firefox, I have a helpful hint. There are many many platform specific builds out there but one particular set of builds I've had great success with come from the people over at http://www.vector64.com . These builds are optimized for the specific processor you have, be it 64 bit, SSE2, mmx, whatever. You might notice a little bit in the way of performance with regards to speed but where they really shine is when you have a workstation you leave on all the time with a browser open. You sometimes might find that with Firefox open for a couple of days the RAM usage creeps up there. These builds often take care of problems like that. A word of warning though, depending on the mix of extensions you have running you may find yourself in the same situation or even have new problems. Its always worth a try, the download takes no time on a broadband connection, and you can extract it to a new folder and give it a test drive to see if you like it, without overwriting any existing Firefox installations.

With regards to news, a favorite source of mine is http://news.google.com . I like it piping hot right off the wires. It may not be the best way if you want an comprehensive outlet like CNN, Fox News, or the like, but if you have a subject in mind, its a great site. I just purchased a scooter so want to see whats up in the world with regards to scooters. Something just caught my eye:

Pensioner gives police the slip after 8mph scooter chase
The Northern Echo, UK - 13 hours ago
A PENSIONER led police in a chase along a busy dual carriageway before giving them the slip - on his mobility scooter. The low-speed pursuit started when ...

Not quite what I was after (mine is a 2007 50cc Honda Ruckus), but sure looks like a funny story. I'm off to read more. I sure help this was helpful.

I no longer live in the area Toby, but thanks to your great blog I can keep up on that neat little town of Delaware that will always have a place in my heart. Keep up the great work.

(btw, if you ever need some technical assistance, I'd be happy to lend my experience and expertise to you, after all its the least I can do in exchange for the smiles this site has given me)

Hey!

I am following this "media consumption diet" thread and am trying to suggest an idea of a Commfree Day - one day every month to be spent away from media and information technology. I have a post with more explanation about it and will be glad to hear what you and others think about it: http://thinkmacro.wordpress.com/2007/07/08/commfree-day/

Thanks!

Thanks Stacey! Have to laugh, my wife is the one in our house that claims SPEED as her favorite channel. Of course, not sure now with Junior leaving the 8 car, what she'll do ;-)
Though as a Browns fan there is a little discussion about your choice of teams :-)

This is a lot of information. I'll try to be brief.

Web - Yahoo on laptop. MSN on Desk. Sometimes Forbes or U.S. News
Browser - IE on both, 7 on desk. Firefox also on the desk to be sure the site views correctly.
Aggregator - I'll have to be honest in saying, "I have no idea what this is."
Wiki - I'll use it when the times arise. Mostly for info on foreign countries. I'm looking forward to traveling when time permits. Wanna be prepared.
Groups - Other than MyBlogLog, not so much. I guess active rain could be considered a group, right?
Blog platform - Wordpress. It's all I've used, and know. Typepad has me curious, but it seems to offer limited creativity.
IM & Skype - Zilch.
Radio - Bob and Sheri in the morning. Sometimes NPR, but I would find myself listening in my car, either in front of my house or in a grocery store parking lot, with the kids in the back yelling, "C'mon mum, lets go!"
Music - Funny, my husband just dug out an old, huge box of CDs which have been stored for the past five years. I now have Hootie, Tracey Chapman and The Cranberries in the 6 disc of the Honda. Oh, the memories!
TV - I'm with Toby on this one. Food Channel is the standard. If my hubby has his way it's The Speed Channel or DIY. Unless it's football season, Go Pittsburgh!
Books - A ton of real estate marketing books, and a few Barb Corcoran, for inspiration. Most recently a few grammar reference books. The latter being the most needed!
Podcast - We just had a big discussion in the office about these. I'm not a big fan. I think the most relative statement was, "watching someone stick a firecracker up their bum (not the word used) on YouTube and watching a REALTOR stubble through a presentation appears just as painful. Though, much less enjoyable."
Communications - Again, same as Toby. Office, Cell and e-mail. Just about ready to sign up for Vontage, being that we rarely use the home land line.
Magazines - Rarely have time to enjoy them much lately. The Saveur, America's Test Kitchen, Real Simple and Southern Living subscriptions have all expired, but still my favorites.
Newspaper - The local is a border-line tabloid. The Island Packet is a McClatchy publication and offers some decent journalism. The N.Y. Times when I have a hunger for quality writing, and the time.

Wow, that was a lot of information, but fun. Thanks for thinking of me.

I used two on Discover Columbus back when it was called Columbus Best Blog. One about Columbus... just silliness. The other was about my blogging buddy Bonnie Erickson... back in the days when we were lonely real estate bloggers blogging into the void. I wonder if it was the same fake paper generator. It looks the same.

The newspaper is so cool. I mentioned in on Active Rain, but neglected to on here. It is from Fodey.com's The Newspaper Clipping Generator.
