Delaware Ohio’s Best: Ice Cream Stand

If there is one thing Delaware, Ohio has plenty of its ice cream stands. There is the Dairy Queen on the far east side, Dairy Depot on the north side, Rocky’s is downtown, the Point on the east side, and even a little one out off U.S. 42 at Section Line Road.

While many remained closed, The Point opened on Monday!

The Winner: The Point

The Point is located at the “point of” Central Avenue and Winer Street on the city’s east side. The Point has everything you could want — at a great price! They have my favorite – a Pup Cup – which is a single dip of soft-serve ice cream with a milkbone biscuit for a $1. The ice cream concotions are wonderful and everything that Toby and Gretchen have had to eat are wonderful.

Honorable Mention: Rocky’s Italian Ice

Rocky’s Italian Ice is located on the southwest side of downtown off William Street at Liberty Street. It is not your “typical” ice cream shop — serving gelatis and frozen custard. The frozen custard is extremely creamy and has a great texture that shows the care with which it was made. The gelati is similar to a “sno cone” with flavored-shaved ice.

Special Mention: Graeter’s Ice Cream

Graeter’s Ice Cream isn’t in Delaware, Ohio — but they do have a location in Powell, which is still Delaware County. And it isn’t really a local restaurant as it is regionally owned. But is their ice cream good: you bet!
