Delaware Ohio’s Best: Wing Store

February 6th, 2007 · 1 Comment

Every restaurant now has them on its menu, some as a speciality, some as appetizer, some are fried, some are just … well … naked.

But, to really do wings “right” it takes more than simply a deep-fat fryer and a bottle of sauce.

Delaware’s Best: Final Score

The wings are large and meaty, but it is the “Buckeye Ranch” sauce that makes these a favorite in Delaware. The Buckeye ranch is a blend of traditional wing sauce and Ranch dressing. They give you enough spice to remind you that the flavor is all wing, and the ranch cools it off to allow you to finish the meal. Final Score has plenty of things to keep you busy with pool and arcade games and is has a band or DJ on weekends. However, it is the food that keeps Toby and Gretchen going back week after week. The Chili Cheesefries are a must have!

Honorable Mention: Hoggy’s Barn & Grille

One of central Ohio’s best bar-b-que joiints offers its wings as an appetizer. But in typical Hoggy’s fashion, that’s enough for a meal. I don’t know where they get these chicken’s that have wings like this, but I don’t want to meet one in a dark alley any time soon. Big is only good with good flavor, and that is the case with Hoggy’s. They have great flavor and would fill the Jolly Green Giant up!

Special Mention: Quaker Steak & Lube

Sitting in Polaris, Quaker Steak & Lube is a regional chain that originated in western Pennsylvania. They give large portions of wings and the “nuts & bolts” is probably one of the great side orders ever invented. Of course, you need a pipe cleaner — or adult beverage — to clean out the arteries. But isn’t that the joy of eating pub food? And name one other place where you can eat food underneath a Corvette?

Need someone to enjoy some wings with? Contact Toby, he’s always up for some wings!
