The second issue of the Carnival of Ohio Bloggers is in the books. I have to admit that this month’s issue snuck up on me, so I did a little searching and went looking for the best Ohio blog posts of the month.
We’ve got posts on the Indians and Cavs (sorry, I couldn’t bear to read more about about the Brownies), the Bucks, politics, food, blogging, and more.
The WinnerÂ
This month’s winner is Lost in Lima Ohio – The Blog with her post “About That Movie …” which is an interesting post on the rape scene in the film Hounddog.
Toby’s comment:
Lost in Lima is a great blog and this is a topic that is very controversial. However, the post doesn’t allow itself to be drug down into mud-slinging but rather uses a journalistic effort to give us her take on the topic.
The best of the rest:
- Lisa’s Restaurant Widow included the post “Getting in Touch With My Inner German: Thurn’s” which details her first visit to Thurn. Thurn’s is an old school German charcuteir located just west of German village in Columbus — and based on her write-up — a place that Toby has to visit!
- Amar Panchmatia posted “We Don’t Listen to Charles Barkley … Never … Ever” on Cavalier Attitude, part of the Most Valuable Network. Great post responding to Charlles Barkley’s comments on the Cavs — and their errors.
- Jeffrey Smith’s “Medieval Toledo: A Downtown office in the Tudor style” on Blogging Ohio is a great piece on the eclectic style of many Ohio’s downtowns.
- Keith Courter’s Buckeye Commentary presented “Title Game Breakdown” which was a very well written breakdown of the game. It isn’t his fault, that the Buckeyes didn’t show up the day after his post.
- It’s a Paul World has a great post “Bloggers Running Out of Gas?” that highlights the world of blogging and how the average life of a blog is 3 months … and shrinking.
- Maureen McCabe presents “Suburban Sprawl in Central Ohio” on Discover Columbus. After spending days of blogging about the great food to be found in central Ohio, Maureen then hit us with the fact that too many central Ohioans are overweight.
- Stephen Kuusisto presents “Monkey Man sighted again” posted at Planet of the Blind, saying, “As a follow up to our last submission, here is a post with directions as to where to find a photo, courtesy of The Columbus Dispatch, of the “Monkey Man” and his canine companion, “Annie”. Don’t you just love it?”
- Rick Lopez’ “Tribe Note“ posted on Tribe Report, part of the Most Valuablen Network. Nice post updating Indians’ fans on the state of the team heading into the 2007 season.
- Rosie’s “I Don’t Lub You No More…” on Bitchin’ in the Kitchen with Rosie is her good bye to the Food Network and its MTV-esque transformation from its roots to a form that is … well … not that great.
That concludes this edition. Submit your blog article to the next edition of carnival of ohio bloggers using our carnival submission form. Past posts and future hosts can be found on our blog carnival index page.
The next issue will be hosted by Sadie’s Take on Delaware Ohio and the submission deadline is February 23.

Thank you very much for the nice words, and of course, for selecting my post!
thanks for including me Toby. Someday I will remember to contribute a blog to a carnival… I think I have one and only one time…
and congrats to Lost in Lima….and all those who submitted or were included by Toby
Thanks for the mention. I learned about some great blogs from this.
Thanks to everyone for stopping by! I enjoyed this month’s selections. It was a lot of fun surfing and looking at the entries.
I just wanted to let everyone know that Lilo is my daughter-in-law. I am very proud of her. She is a wonderful mother to my three grandchildren, but I keep telling her, she is in the wrong business.
She is so great on the computer and writing her articles.
She has a great mind and an empathy for those that have been injured.
Congratulations Lilo on a good job!
Mom

What a great way to meet bloggers in our own “neighborhood”. Thanks for bringing us all together!
