Blue Monday.
I instantly thought of New Order’s song, or the Orgy remake. But, why would Channel 10 news be talking about that?
Augh, no. This is a “new” study by an English doctor that says that the majority of people will feel depressed the final week of January. He gives several reasons among them are the cold weather of the season – not as big an issue this year. But two others are very prominent regardless of what the weather has done. First, having to actually pay off those debts from the Holiday season and the second was the breaking of those New Year’s resolutions.
But, a British Web site, Beat Blue Monday, offers 10 tips on how to beat the ”blues” this Monday. A sample:
- …Contact a friend or relative
Get in touch with someone you have not heard from in a while; thinking of someone else takes your mind off you. - …Take a break
Go somewhere different, whether it’s a coffee bar you have never been into, or a faraway luxury holiday; by changing your physical location, you change your perspective on the world.
So don’t allow Blue Monday to overcome you today — especially looking at the first snow of the season — get out and do something different!
