Don’t ask me where I got this, it is merely a hunch …
Be on the look-out for more HGTV shows coming to the Midwest area. Why?
These shows do not pay their “talent” and want to find people that are willing to “give them footage” in exchange for their 10 minutes of fame. Well, people in California are no longer interested in this. They want their money, and HGTV and its constant barrage of “cheap” housing shows don’t want to pay.
That’s why, I expect that we will see more of these shows moving into America’s mid-section, where we’ll still do these type of things for free.
This was brought on by the “breaking” news about “Flip This House”, courtesy of Sequence Inc., which aired on A&E with Trademark Properties owner Richard Davis and his beatiful up-and-coming assistant Ginger. Supposedely they had a deal with A&E and that was never executed and now lawsuits are flying both ways, you can read more at — surprise! – Mark Lyon’s blog Flip This Lawsuit.

I get calls and emails from these folks all the time. Initially it was a thrill, now it’s become as bad as a telephone solicitor. I really don’t want to be on TV. Nor do I want some director to make me look like an idiot Realtor, so NO I will never say “yes.” Funny, I’ve asked some of my buyers if they had an interest and no one thought it was worth it. They too want to know what they will get for the trouble…
Guess 10 minutes a fame isn’t enough anymore…show us the money honey!

Kristal – Thanks for stopping by! I think you are right. I have an aquantence that works in Hollywood and he jokes about how much easier it is to shoot movies and shows in Ohio. People will “line up” to do roles that in Calif. they have to hire out for.
It is all about novelty. but you are right. Not sure that I want them to be on the inside of my deals — especially after the LA Real Estate “series” they did.
