What College-Town Wouldn’t Have Two Coffee Houses?

coffee cupNo, self-respecting college town would allow itself to be caught without a classic coffee shop. And Delaware is no exception — in fact the city boasts two unique and very different – but equally good – coffee shops.

And I don’t mean those chain restaurants where everything is the same and you struggle to remember which one your in.

The traditional is the Mean Bean Caffeine Lounge, which is located at the intersection of William and Sandusky streets, on the city’s main drag. The Mean Bean is everything that a college-town coffee shop is — funky, ecletic, and even a little off the wall. Mean Bean is virtually always open and is a second-home for a lot of Ohio Wesleyan students. So much so, that when exam time rolls around the Mean Bean is open 24/7 to help the student’s have an extra place to study. The Mean Bean is all about comfort. Go in the morning for their special blend or anytime for their brew or any of their other unique concoctions.

Trotters Coffee Company, located on west Winter Street across from Bun’s Restaurant, is as classy as Mean Bean is funky. Trotters has a classic motif and allows you to even purchase beans to grind yourself at home. The shop’s house blend – Trotters – is always on “tap” along with at least one other of their premium blends ready to wake you up.

So next time you need your caffeine fix, head for downtown Delaware!
